The tallest Ganesha Monument in Asia

The Indra Maharani Foundation (IMF) has created a monument for the world’s hindus to
be proud of: the “Sri Maha Ganesha Statue Monument” in Lovina, Kalibukbuk Village, Buleleng Regency, Bali. The statue in the shape of an elephant, was inaugurated on
12th February 2006. Not only does it have a unique history, blazed by the world Hindu youth, it is also registered in the Indonesian Museum of Record (MURI) as the tallest Ganesha statue in Indonesia and in ASEAN.

The Sri Ganesha Statue Monument stands an impressive 18,5 meters from the ground. The statue of the god Ganesha itself is 9 meters tall, in his sitting position and accompanied by his sacred vehicle, a mouse. Ganesha is portrayed with four arms, holding a weapon, a rosary, sweets and a swastika.

One of his ivory tusks is broken, indicating that is an image of Ganesha after he became a god. The statue is surrounded by flags of 204 nations in the world symbolizing that the god Ganesha sheds a holy light on all humans, such as an information centre and a meditation room.

The location was chosen for strategic reasons: the Hindu community of Buleleng urgently needed religious symbols, including this statue of Ganesha.
Buleleng is also in a remarkable location between mountains and the sea, enhancing the sacred atmosphere.

Hindu come to worship the god Ganesha to seek protection from all obstacles and
blessing for success in all their activities. 
The Sri Ganesha Statue Monument has also become one of bali’s major tourism attractions.
